The Coats Room
A place for clear thought, open expression and enjoyment, The Coats Room invites you to do business or celebrate surrounded by nature while enjoying all the mod cons you’d expect from a city venue. A sensitively and sustainably restored carpenter’s workshop set amidst the peaceful seclusion of Glen Tanar, this intimate space is steeped in history. Rustic, original stone walls give a nod to its previous life while other features – the fact its heated by a sustainable biomass plant, for example – show it’s been brought suitably up-to-date.

St Lesmo’s Chapel
A hidden gem on the estate, the Chapel of St Lesmo was built by Glen Tanar’s original founder Sir William Cunliffe Brooks in 1872. Peaceful and timeless, it sits just a short stroll from the Victorian Ballroom and the visitor centre. St Lesmo’s is accessed via a grand yet inviting cast iron gateway and, with its thatched roof, stone exterior and stained-glass windows, it couldn’t be more charming. Inside, you’ll find ceiling rafters fashioned from twisted branches of locally grown Scotch Fir, Glen Tanar granite and a specially made bell.
The chapel is dedicated to St Lesmo, the holy hermit who lived in Glen Tanar around 790 AD, and is registered as an independent Episcopal Chapel. It's now managed by the Glen Tanar Charitable Trust.

The Glen Tanar Visitor Centre
Your group will really feel part of the estate after an event in the visitor centre. Here, you’ll learn about the natural and cultural heritage, as well as Royal Deeside with its treats and activities. There’s also a charge point for electric bikes and toilets. The ranger service team are based here and can share their expertise – from preparing environmental games and activities for children to supervising fieldwork (including environmental monitoring and 'hands-on' conservation work) to supporting site visits for natural resource management students.
