The historic practice of deer stalking provides a fascinating insight into Highland heritage and culture, and a unique perspective on the landscapes in which the deer flourish.
Glen Tanar supports a thriving population of Red and Roe deer. To keep the population healthy and the number of deer in balance with their habitat, we manage these populations, and on various dates through the year, we offer deer stalking on the estate.
Following these animals across an open moor, in ever-changing and
unpredictable Scottish weather, takes great patience and stamina, and
success is never guaranteed. Our experienced deerstalkers will do all
they can to help, drawing on local knowledge and an understanding of the
herds and their behaviour. They accompany all clients, and ensure best
practice guidelines are observed.
