Once home to Glen Tanar’s butler, rich in original detail.
Perfect for outdoor dining and relaxed gatherings.
A beautiful, character-filled retreat where tradition meets togetherness. Butler’s Lodge is full of heritage, space and warmth — the ideal base for reconnecting with loved ones in the peace of the Highlands.
Once home to Lord Glen Tanar’s butler — who earned £85 a year in 1900 plus a weekly beer allowance of three shillings and sixpence — this cottage is steeped in character. Original features abound, from handsome doors to the quirky “glory hole” under-stair cupboard, alongside restored antiques that tell stories of a bygone era.
With a generous open-plan living area and a charming enclosed garden, Butler’s Lodge is designed for both comfort and celebration. Whether it’s a quiet weekend or a family gathering, this is a place for meaningful, relaxing, and eco-conscious experiences.
You’ll feel part of Glen Tanar’s story here. The forest and walled garden are just a short stroll away, while the Victorian Ballroom and Coats Room are nearby too. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy endless walks, wildlife spotting, fishing, and biking — all right on your doorstep.
Create lasting memories at Butler’s Lodge — a true Highland home from home.
