Colin McCleanWildlife Manager
Colin has 25 years’ experience in wildlife management. He is responsible for blending nature conservation with traditional Highland stalking and field sports, as well as for developing wildlife tourism opportunities.
Colin EspieDeer stalker & Ghillie
Colin manages the deer population across the estate to keep numbers in balance with the habitat in a beautiful nature reserve. As well as guiding shooting guests, Colin works on habitat management for a range of species and has intimate knowledge of all parts of the estate. During the fishing season Colin works on the Deecastle beat on the River Dee.
Fergus CummingDeer stalker & Ghillie
Fergus manages the deer population across the estate to keep numbers in balance and protect the nature reserve and the species on it. During the fishing season Fergus ghillies on the Headinch & Cambus beat on the River Dee.
Craig McDonaldDeer stalker & Ghillie
During the Spring, Craig is the ghillie on Waterside and Ferrar beat. He is a fully qualified casting instructor and enjoys helping visitors improve at a sport he is passionate about. Craig is our instructor in the learn-to-fish sessions, and has a keen interest in wildlife and conservation. He loves working outdoors on the hill or river alongside his labrador, Brodie.
Phillip WoodSummer Ghillie
Originally from Kent, our Summer Ghillie, Phillip Wood is no stranger to Deeside, having fished on the River Dee for over 20 years. As Summer Ghillie, he is looking forward to meeting some fellow salmon anglers and introducing them to the Glen Tanar beats, hoping he may pass on not just his knowledge, to help them hone their skills, but also his passion for the famous Dee salmon. His speciality is fly fishing using traditional single iron salmon flies.
