For something a bit different, why not explore Glen Tanar on horseback? Perfect for those who really want to connect with nature, you’ll ride through heather-covered moors, forest paths, and scenic glens – stunning settings that are all traffic-free!
The Glen Tanar Equestrian Centre offers lessons, hacks and guided treks for all abilities
A one hour ride takes you round the trout loch into the ancient Caledonian Pine forest, along the banks and through the Water of Tanar.
A two-hour ride passes through the river and woods up into the hills to enjoy the spectacular views of the glen and surrounding hillside.
On a half- or whole-day ride you’ll go high into the hills for a relaxing picnic.
Children’s pony club
If your little ones are horse-mad, school holiday Pony Club will suit them down to the ground. Children aged between six and 14 can make memories during three hours of riding (a lesson, gymkhana games and a ride out around the loch, into the forest and through the river) then learn about pony handling and care. Rosettes are awarded to all those who take part.
Please note: The equestrian centre is not run by Glen Tanar Estate. It can be contacted directly on 013398 86448.
