Grant & Rachael's Love Story

17th January 2017

Grant and Rachael Kelly were married at Glen Tanar on Saturday 3rd December 2016. Here is their story.

"Grant and I met at Glen Tanar back in July 2011, we were attending Sarah & Craig Mennie’s wedding. Grant was at school with both the bride and groom and I met the bride whilst at University in Aberdeen. 3 years later we got engaged ourselves and started hunting for our perfect wedding venue.

However, the hunt didn’t last very long – since we met at Glen Tanar it was first on the list of venues to see. As soon as we walked in the doors we remembered what a fantastic venue it is and memories came flooding back from the night we met. We did look at several other venues in Scotland just to be sure that Glen Tanar was the one for us, but to be completely honest nothing really came close, the ballroom was the benchmark and we kept comparing everything to it.

Despite the fact we met there, there were many other reasons for us choosing Glen Tanar. Firstly the ballroom itself is stunning, it doesn’t really need anything done to it, the room speaks for itself and with a few small touches it really is a beautiful place to get married. Secondly we wanted a place in which the bar wasn’t too far from the dance floor, we’d been to weddings in the past where the two were in completely separate rooms and it can end up disjointed with an empty dancefloor. The dancefloor is also a good size, we had 115 guests and it never felt cramped. Finally, the staff were a big differentiator for us, from our first meeting with Shona and Jane we were made to feel very welcome and they couldn’t do enough for us. Shortly after we paid our deposit Grant’s job took him to Houston Texas, however, with Jane and Shona’s help we certainly didn’t feel 4000 miles away, they were always quick to answer our silly questions and made the whole process very straight forward."
