Beneath vaulted timber beams, beside still waters or among towering pines, Glen Tanar offers ceremony settings defined by atmosphere, landscape and a strong sense of place.
Whether you choose the historic Ballroom, the story-filled Chapel of St Lesmo, or an open-air setting deep within the Cairngorms, you’ll find the perfect space to say “I do.”
Toast to your love in comfort and style.
Having hosted celebrations for more than a century, the Victorian Ballroom remains one of the Highlands’ best-kept secrets — an inviting, atmospheric space where lifelong memories are made.
Dine and dance on original oak floors beneath soaring timber beams, where over 700 antlers collected from the estate sweep across vaulted ceilings. Let guests spill out onto the lawns for garden games or drinks at dusk, surrounded by the stillness of the glen.
Built in 1869 by Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, the Ballroom was once Glen Tanar House’s music room, entertaining royalty and the region’s aristocracy. Today, it blends that heritage with warmth and down-to-earth Highland hospitality — a backdrop for celebrations filled with meaning.
Capacity: up to 140 seated
A beautiful space to say 'I do'.
The Trout Loch offers a quietly beautiful setting for a ceremony or gathering, surrounded by still water, open sky and woodland. Set just a short walk from the Ballroom, it offers a sense of calm and privacy while remaining close to the heart of the estate.
History and romance intertwined.
Approach through a grand cast-iron gateway to your own private chapel — its thatched roof, stained-glass windows and stone-and-pebble walls glowing in the Highland light. As the chapel bell rings and the organ begins to play, nerves give way to joy.
Built in 1872 by Glen Tanar’s founder, the chapel is dedicated to St Lesmo, a holy hermit who lived here in 790 AD. Peaceful and timeless, it sits just a short stroll from the Ballroom and is still managed by the Glen Tanar Charitable Trust. Inside, rustic rafters crafted from local Scotch fir and a granite floor quarried from the estate connect every ceremony to the land itself — a true moment in history.
Capacity: Up to 60 seated. For religious ceremonies only.
A warm, welcoming space to dine and celebrate.
The dining area is set within the same elegant space as the main Ballroom floor, allowing for a seamless flow throughout the day and keeping guests at the heart of the celebration. Surrounded by Victorian portraits of the family who have owned the estate for four generations, the room is rich in history and character, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels both grand and personal.
Capacity: Up to 90 seated.
For those who feel most alive in the wild.
