Tucked away in the peaceful pine forests of Glen Tanar, our sparkling trout loch offers a fly-fishing experience unlike any other. Surrounded by heather-clad hills and Caledonian woodland, it’s a place where time slows, wildlife stirs, and nature takes centre stage.
Trout fishing sessions can be booked here online. Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended to secure your preferred dates.
Fly fishing from boats only, the loch provides a tranquil setting for both seasoned anglers and beginners alike. The gentle ripple of the water, the reflection of the trees and the thrill of the catch make every session memorable.
Trout fishing is available year-round, subject to weather conditions.
Online booking is open from 24 March to 31 October.
From April to September, two daily sessions are available:
Morning: 9am–3pm
Afternoon: 3pm–9pm
Please note: During the months of March and October, fishing runs as a single session from 9am–5pm.

Two boats are available per session, each accommodating up to two rods — ideal for individuals, pairs or families looking to share the experience.
If you’d prefer this to sound a touch more premium or more informal, I can adjust the tone very easily.
On-site rod and tackle hire can be added when booking. Each set includes:
- 5 weight trout rod, reel and line
- Scissors
- Tippet material
- A selection of mixed trout flies and lures
