For Lucas and Chanda, their search for the perfect wedding venue began thousands of miles away in Washington State, USA and, surprisingly, with a little help from AI.
The couple were looking for a very particular location: a beautiful forest, a historic church or chapel surrounded by nature, a memorable reception space, accommodation for their closest family and friends, access to horse riding and plenty to experience together during their stay. Interestingly, Scotland wasn’t even mentioned in their requirements.
They turned to ChatGPT for inspiration, entering everything they were hoping to find at their dream wedding.
They instantly fell in love with the estate and, despite never having visited in person, decided that Glen Tanar was the place for them. On 30 August, Lucas and Chanda travelled across the Atlantic with seven of their family and friends to celebrate their wedding in the Victorian Ballroom, following their ceremony at the Chapel of St Lesmo.
With such a long journey to make, their time at Glen Tanar was always going to be about more than just one day.
Our team helped with preparations and personal touches before their arrival, including decorating the Victorian Ballroom for their reception. We also introduced the couple to some of our favourite local suppliers, helping them bring together all the details of their Scottish wedding from thousands of miles away.
And there was a little piece of Glen Tanar in the flowers, too. Fresh flowers were picked from the Garden to decorate the tables and to create a beautiful bouquet for Chanda.
Lucas and Chanda made the most of their time in Aberdeenshire, filling their stay with experiences across the estate and beyond.

A history tour of the Victorian Ballroom and Estate
Their wedding ceremony at the Chapel of St Lesmo, followed by their reception in the Victorian Ballroom
Horse riding across the estate, including past the place where they were married and some of Glen Tanar’s most beautiful spots
A final evening at the Lookout Hide, where they were lucky enough to spot badgers
From their first virtual search to their final evening watching wildlife from the Lookout Hide, their time at Glen Tanar became the Scottish wedding experience they had been hoping to find.
