On Sunday 20th August, Morgan, Pete and their family went for a leisurely stroll around Glen Tanar and what seemed like an ordinary Sunday afternoon turned into an extra special one, as Morgan explains:
"Pete and I have known each other for around two years through working as managers at Screwfix. Pete was the manager of the Inverness store and I was the manager of the Aberdeen store. We have been together for just over a year, in that time travelling at least twice a week between Aberdeen and Inverness, which worked out at 400 to 600 miles a week for us....it must have been love to do it for a year!
A few Sundays ago I had no idea what he was planning. I was used to his scheming as we regularly came up with surprises for each other. And now I've found out that Pete had been planning the proposal for a couple of months - getting the custom ring made, going round my family asking for their blessing, asking for the whole family to be there including my sister who stays in London!
The proposal was emotional to say the least, we went for a walk with the family around Glen Tanar. Then it was suggested we take a peak inside the Ballroom, it was also suggested that my stepbrother Lee, try out his pipes inside - all the while I’m just thinking "that’s a good idea as I would like a nosey inside!"
Lee played the pipes which had everyone going, and then Pete turned and said "will I lighten the mood?" He got down on one knee and asked me to be his Mrs Douglas.
My first words were yes and I hugged him saying "sneaky!".... then I was in a state of shock and still am, it was an unbelievable day. We are aiming for a two year engagement, hopefully Glen Tanar might be able to help us out with fulfilling that... As we have had a few walks in the past which gave us memories and having the engagement in the Ballroom has given us even more happy memories."
We wish Morgan and Pete a very happy engagement and look forward to showing them round the Ballroom as their potential wedding venue!
