Cycling over the new bridge

Walking & Cycling

In Glen Tanar you can walk or cycle along tracks through ancient forests of Scots pine, silver birch and oak. The Water of Tanar can be traced from Mount Keen to where it meets the River Dee.

The Glen Tanar Visitor Centre offers guide leaflets and advice on all walks and cycle routes in "The Glen". A network of way-marked trails radiates from the Centre and provides varied, scenic walks for all abilities – with distances ranging from less than one mile to five miles.

There is also access to the Fir Mounth and the Mount Keen drovers roads which are rights-of-way. Mount Keen is the most easterly “Munro” in Scotland and there is a challenging 14 mile round trip to the summit.

Glen Tanar is also the perfect base to explore the many walking routes Deeside and North East Scotland have to offer.

Alternatively you may just like to picnic by the river side.
