Planning a wedding can be great fun and needn’t be stressful – especially with the knowledge that the team at Glen Tanar is looking after many of the details. Here’s a helpful checklist which might help you plan the perfect day:

01 Request a brochure and organise a visit to Glen Tanar.
01 Meet the team that will plan your wedding.
01 Draw up that guest list as soon as possible.
01 Book the venue! Weekends are often booked-up years in advance.
01 Make sure you have the photographer that you want.
01 Organise your wedding stationary and make sure that you receive a proof before going to print. Remember ‘Thank You’ cards.
01 Choosing a caterer can be daunting – always choose a good caterer and work within your budget. Ask for there advice.
01 What flowers are required? Do you want fresh or silk? Buttonholes? Corsages? Does the venue allow flowers? Meet with the florist and check the details.
01 Wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dress – easy to forget that the groom, best man and ushers all need to be consulted!
01 The Cake – what do YOU want? Make sure you speak with the baker or supplier as fruit cakes require maturing before the icing can be applied.
01 Time to spend some money – what rings will you be getting? Celtic, Traditional, Gold, Silver, plastic – remember that it may take some time to create works of art.
01 Book the honeymoon.
01 Start your wedding gift list – it may be that it is just travel vouchers you want! Let your guests know.
01 Send out your invitations – sending your gift list is at this time is ideal as it gives your guests time to think about what to get you. And keep it updated. Supplying a map can also be very helpful.
01 Make sure everyone has been fitted for any hired outfits.
01 Music! What do want played – if anything! Try and play music that means something to you, this also applies to hymns and songs you may want in the chapel.
01 Book your hairdressing and make-up sessions – have a practice first!
01 Make sure your passport is valid.
01 Ensure your Marriage Licence has been sorted. And Order of Service is important as this can act as a permanent memento.
01 Check your seating plans – don’t want to forget Great Aunt!
01 Organise your rehearsal – ideal time for checking outfits. Comfort becomes important near the end of the day. It also allows people to know what they should be doing on the day.
01 Transport arrangements – is your car suitable? Do your guests need transport?
01 Hen and Stag nights – give them both time so that you can recuperate – the day before is not a good idea!
