i lived in aberdeen for nearly 6 years until april this year, and visited glen tanar at least once a week during that time. shortly before i left i was talking to one of the rangers who asked me to record that I had seen kingfishers (22.7.07 the first time and then twice after that) down the tanar water. strangely in all those visits i never once saw a capercaillie and may, once, have seen a crossbill – and i’m a keen birdwatcher. interested to read about your students culling foxes -never saw any of them either! (foxes, that is, not students)now, i live in the lake district and though it is of course, lovely, i’d swap it all for glen tanar on my doorstep again. peace – pete

Will the Enchanted Glen be happening this year?
By Robyn, November 3, 2009 @ 1:15 pm
Hi Pete
Thank you for leaving us a comment on our blog and letting us know about the birds that you saw when you were here, I will let the Rangers know of these sightings.
Our Norwegian students are now away back home but are hoping to come back and visit us again in the near future. They thoroughly enjoyed their time here on the Estate, learning about Land & Wildlife management.
We hope that you will come and visit the Glen again when you may be back up in the area.
Kind regards
Robyn

Hi Maxine
No unfortunately we are not having the Enchanted Glen this year but possibly we may have it on next year. I believe the Enchanted Forest is on in Pitlochry in October 2010.
Kind regards
Robyn
